A Humbling And A Marvelous Thought

Quote for the day ... "True success in this life comes in consecrating our lives—that is, our time and choices—to God’s purposes (see John 17:1, 4; D&C 19:19). In so doing, we permit Him to raise us to our highest destiny."        -- Elder D. Todd Christofferson

That thought was featured in the "Prophets and Apostles Speak Today" column of lds.org today.  I liked the talk when I heard it in October, it touched me again when I read it recently, and it was good to ponder again today.  I think it is a really succinct definition of consecration ... and remember, we are always in Heavenly Father's debt.  If we do something good, He immediately blesses us and we are back in His debt.  So just imagine how much he will bless us if we consecrate our time and our choices to Him!  That's just a glimpse of what I believe Elder Christofferson is talking about when he concludes "... we permit Him to raise us to our highest destiny".  We have our free agency.  He cannot take us to our highest destiny unless we show our willingness to go there by consecrating our time and our choices to His purposes.

That is a very humbling thought, and also a marvelous one!

Willyne and I attended a convert baptism in our ward this afternoon for Brother Dayle Corso.  It was well attended, it was wonderful to feel the support and especially the Spirit there.  There is nothing quite like the sweet Spirit at a convert baptism.  I'm glad I could share in it!
