The 15th of March has been a fun day for me as long as I can remember.

I love to say "Beware the ides of March" even though I'm sure Brother Caesar wouldn't agree ... I have even been known to apply it to the infamous middle day of April ...

Actually, both are tax deadline days -- today's is for corporations, the one in April is for pretty much everyone else.  I still think they ought to do tax deadlines like license plate renewals -- your deadline would be on the 15th of the month offset six months from your birthday.

Or they could be really innovative and abolish the income tax and replace it with a transaction tax.  No tax returns.  No underground economy (just tax all cash withdrawals from banks and ATM machines at a substantially higher rate than the normal transaction tax rate to make up for the fact you can't track cash transactions).  No big brother knowing and looking at all the personal details of your life.  Refund everyone in America an amount equal to the tax on subsistence level income as an answer to the argument that this would be a regressive tax.  Put many thousands of folks like me out of work ... we'd have to get retrained to do something more productive ... hmmm capitalism actually working? novel concept ...
