True Courage Under Fire

Thought for today from reading in Acts 4 and Alma 25 ...

"And they called them, and acommanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of   Jesus.
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to ahearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20 For we cannot but aspeak the things which we have bseen and heard.
                                                                                        -- Acts 4:18-20
Willyne and I took Riley, Kate, and Ethan to the Hurricane theater to see "Planes".  We had a great time together.  Movie was fun and had a good message ... better to look out for a friend than putting victory first.  Victory will come in its own due time.

Through The Merits Of His Son

Today's thought from reading in Alma 24 and Acts 3 ...

"And also thank my God, yea, my great God, that he hath granted unto us that we might  repent of these things, and also that he hath aforgiven us of those our many sins and   murders which we have committed, and taken away the bguilt from our hearts, through the    merits of his Son."

                                                                                -- Alma 24:10

And Peter healed a lame man and bore powerful testimony!

With Gladness and Singleness of Heart

Today's thought, from reading in Acts 2 and Alma 23 ...

"And they, continuing daily with one accord in the atemple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and bsingleness of heart,"

                                                                                                   -- Acts 2:46

All of a community being in one accord sounds really, really good about now ...

No vitamins today, did take crestor.  Here's my walk:  http://terreeeblay.blogspot.com/2013/08/13-220.html

Read Alma 22, Acts 1.  I love the story of the missionary labors of the 4 sons of Mosiah among the Lamanites.  Truly remarkable!

Lovest Thou Me More Than These?

Thought today from reading in John 21 and Alma 21:

"So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me  more than these? He saith unto him,Yea, Lord; thou knowest that love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
"He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto  him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that love thee. He saith unto him, aFeed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou  knowest all things; thou knowest that love thee. Jesus saith unto him,aFeed my bsheep.
                                                                             -- John 21:15-17
I think of the masterful LDS General Conference Talk by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland when I read these words.  I also think of our prophet, Thomas S. Monson's call to all to the rescue.  Regular reminders are a wonderful thing.
Speaking of that makes me think of the nice daddy-daughter date I had with Becca this evening.  So glad neither of us ever get too old for those.  We watched "Cinderella Man" in HD at home while eating chicken baskets and assorted Dairy Queen treats.  Good food, fabulous company.  I wasn't familiar with this story, but to say it was moving is not nearly enough.  It reaffirms again that whereever we find ourselves, there is still hope.  Second (and one hundred and fifty-fourth) chances are a wonderful thing, but we do have to believe, deeply believe, and be willing to act on that belief against all odds to make good on those second chances.

Blessed are they that have not seen

Thought for today from reading in John 20 and Alma 20:

" ... because thou hast aseen me, thou hast believed: bblessed are they that have not seen, and yet have cbelieved."

                                                                  -- John 20:29

Faith is both powerful and so worthwhile!

Took my vitamins today, but no crestor, and no walk.

Many Had Seen And Conversed With Angels

Today's thought, from reading in Alma 19 and John 19

"And behold, many did declare unto the people that they had seen angels and had conversed with them; and thus they had told them things of God, and of his righteousness."

                                                                                             -- Alma 19:34

Sobering to read about newly converted people being so blessed they saw and conversed with angels in the same morning as I read John's detailed account of the Crucifixion.

Took my vitamins, missed Crestor .  Here is today's walk:  http://terreeeblay.blogspot.com/2013/07/13-212.html#more
